Chris Patton informed us that he would regretfully be unable to make it to NatsuCon this year. He was presented several impassible opportunities recently, and after deliberation had to back out of attending NatsuCon 2010. We wish him well in his endeavors.
In a recent turn of events as well, NatsuCon will now be hosting the Nerdfit Network. Hailing from Maryland, The Nerdfit Network is an Entertainment Media Network that has been shocking and winning the hearts of audiences since 2007 with their insanity.
We welcome them with open arms, and hope NatsuCon will become a staple of the Nerdfit Network!
Also, we goofed, for all those worried, there is at-door registration. The prices are now re-posted on the registration page.
You’ve been asking for it, so we’ve got it! The NatsuCon 2010 Schedule is officially yours to download!
The Sheraton Westport Chalet understands that the NatsuCon weekend is a time for fun and friends, and as such, we’ve reached an agreement about room parties.
They’re doable!
Under a few conditions, that is.
First off, not enough people booked rooms to fill the hotel, and since we will be sharing a majority of the hotel with regular hotel guests (normies), anything too rambunctious may be asked to stop – but we’re all well-behaved, right?
So with that aside, there’s a few things that need to be followed:
- If you are serving alcohol in your room party, you cannot under any circumstances have guests under 21 years of age present. If we find out you have been serving alcohol to minors, you will lose both your badge, your hotel room, and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Worried about someone getting past your watchful eye? Then you’ll need to either lock down the booze, or keep your room party to yourself.
- You cannot charge admission to your room party under any circumstances. A buy-in for drinks or snacks to gain admission is not allowed.
- If you advertise your room party at the convention you cannot turn guests away (excluding minors if your party is 21+, or if they pose a danger to the environment and party guests). Room capacity must be kept within reason, and if numbers exceed that reasonable amount, the party is liable to be shut down.
- The room party must stay in the room. No roving parties are allowed, and a mass exodus to the hotel pool can get your room party shut down and badges pulled.
And above all, you must send an email to NatsuCon (at) gmail (dot) com detailing your Party listing:
- The Party’s name
- The Full Name of the Host and the name the Hotel Room is under.
- Whether Alcohol will be present
- What time you plan to have your party
- Your hotel confirmation number
At check in you will need to inform the front desk that you are hosting a room party so they can place you to decrease the chances of disturbing hotel guests.
If we receive complaints about a room party we will investigate accordingly, and if the complaints are well founded, we will work with the Sheraton Westport Chalet to shut it down. For the most part we figure everyone is respectful of one-another and the hotel, so we don’t envision many people being stopped.
Thanks! We can’t wait to see you at NatsuCon!
Hey everybody, I’ll be heading to DragonTalk radio with Jon Klement to discuss some of the big things coming for NatsuCon this year!
If you like podcasts (or even if you don’t) be sure to tune in, and if you have a question we haven’t answered yet, feel free to even call in during the show and I’ll answer it!
You can learn all about it by clicking right here and be sure to check out some of his other shows here!
Our Vendor’s Room is now officially full! Thanks to everyone who purchased a booth at NatsuCon 2010!
Look forward to a list of vendors, soon!
It’s been a while since we’ve updated, so we have a lot to say.
The April Fools’ joke was just an April Fools’ joke
The post on April 1st, 2010 was a post in jest. We are NOT having our convention in a trailer park (as classy as it would be) and we are having it at the West Port Sheraton Chalet hotel. No need to worry.
NatsuCon welcomes GPX Gaming to join us in our 2010 year!
This year, NatsuCon will be hosting GPX gaming for all of our game room needs. They will be bringing the best of console gaming to St. Louis, as well as two DDR machines (a.k.a. Dancey Boxes) and another special surprise. They’ll be coordinating tournaments and showing off some of the newest and best videogames they have to offer, including an extensive selection of imports. Check them out at http://www.gpxgaming.net/ or connect with them on facebook here.
Returning DJ Andy Szawsum to play at NatsuCon Dance

The Date Auction is almost full!
We’ve done our best to find the hottest dates NatsuCon can offer, and we’re almost ready to announce our roster of handsome guys and beautiful girls up for the bidding. Besides an eyeful, becoming the winning bidder for your favorite guy or girl gets you preferred seating at the masquerade, line-jumping for the Saturday night dance, and discount admission to NatsuCon 2011. But that’s not all, every winning bidder gets a special dinner with their date.
THE GONG SHOW RETURNS!
We actually bough the gong in 2009, so in 2010, the infamous Gong Show makes it’s triumphant return to NatsuCon. The Gong Show: A game show where anything goes – until you’re gonged. Take your place on the stage, and you have 2 minutes to wow the judges with ANY “talent” you may have the gall to show off. Then, the Celebrity Judges give you a score. If they don’t like your performance, you get gonged off the stage. Winners will receive a multitude of prizes, extending between free passes to Natsu in 2011 to used gum. Because the show is uncensored, it will be an 18+ event.

Please, please, PLEASE; We stress that although you might have somebody else pay for you to come to NatsuCon 2010, FILL OUT YOUR OWN INFORMATION. Many people who do not fill out their own badge information will not remember their badge names. To ensure that registration moves smoothly, we would like to avoid this forgetfulness. Are you tired of cramped venues with confused hotel staff looking at you in an odd fashion? Are you tired of having to share the cost of a room with someone else AND sleep on an uncomfortable bed? Do you think that a 10,000 square feet main events room limits the potential of a convention? Do you need that open and free-flowing feel, no matter where you go in a con? Then look no further, because this year – NatsuCon will be the first ever outdoor-only convention – at a St. Louis RV campsite!
No longer will you have to worry about packing and checking out sunday morning due to arbitrary hotel guidelines. You can bring your own tent, RV, or camper trailer, and for the low price of $30 a night, you have your own campsite to do with as you wish. No longer need you be concerned about your room party being shut down just because you broke something and everyone won’t stop screaming.
Besides, have you ever been to a convention with a full-blown, bona-fide bonfire? NatsuCon 2010 will erect a 50 foot wicker mecha, and on Sunday night after closing ceremonies, burn it to the ground in a culmination of efforts never seen at con before.

This year, dealer’s room will be more of a traveling caravan, and due to popular demand, both an Ice-cream truck and a Funnel-cake stand will be available! And possibly even a few carnival rides!

Best of all, cold, iced-down Ramuné, and pocky that will never melt, available for purchase from one of our many fine vendors.
SO REGISTER NOW! Mention at registration the code “april fools” and recieve..nothing! Because the Sheraton in Westport Plaza is an amazing hotel, and we most certainly do not plan to change venues for 2010. This was an april fools joke, and if you have any questions, concerns, or even high-fives (or funny jokes) send them to natsucon@gmail.com. Registration for NatsuCon 2010 can be found here, and further venue information here.
After our first year of overwhelming support by the St. Louis anime community, NatsuCon returns in 2010 with a bigger venue, more guests, and more special events. We are pleased to announce that NatsuCon 2010 will be taking place on July 16th-18th at the Sheraton Westport Chalet. Special Guests from 2009 Chris Patton and Cristina Vee are slated to return, as well as several other musical guests and voice actors. Our new guests will be announced in the weeks to come.
The special con-goer room rate for the Sheraton Westport Chalet is $89.99 per night† for single to quadruple occupancy. This room rate is extended for three days before and after the convention for any travelers who might like to stay an extra night or two. The rooms all include free high-speed internet access, as well as standard hotel amenities. For information on how to reserve a room, visit the Location page.
This year, NatsuCon is in the heart of the cultural hub of Westport Plaza. With great restaurants, live entertainment, and a short drive from many St. Louis landmarks, the area is a destination of choice for many St. Louisians. Westport Plaza combines beautiful architecture with many wonderful restaurants and venues to create a unique experience. For out-of-town attendees, the Sheraton has a complimentary shuttle which runs to the airport every half hour for hotel guests.
All of this is made possible by your continued support of NatsuCon, as well as the many hours put in by Convention Staff, and countless generous Volunteers. If you would like to take part in NatsuCon 2010 as a staff member, please fill out an app, which you can download here.
In the days to come we will be tweaking and updating the NatsuCon website and forums with new information as we confirm all of the details. Registration information will be available soon, and pre-registration will become available next week.
†Taxes applicable, approx. 15%, total room price approximately $104 a night with tax.
